"We want to make the people at home proud"
Beyond Limits about the difference between Sweden and Nigeria.
The Nigerian team Beyond Limits is in Gothenburg for the first time in their lives. The players' ambition is to bring home the coveted trophy as they participate in the Gothia Puma Trophy, a tournament exclusively for invited academies.
Ten minutes before the start of the match, rain begins to fall, and Beyond Limits' goalkeeper puts on a cap. When the game starts the tempo is high, and after one minute, the sun starts to show.
-The major difference from home is that it's very cold, but it's something we like. It's refreshing, says goal scorer Ogbonnaya Sunday Ejike
The team, hailing from the small town of Aiyepe outside Lagos, is accustomed to rain but not the cold. This is emphasized several times by the entire team.
-We hope to make our people back home proud. We want to showcase our team and style of playing football. The team has prepared extensively for this tournament, and we want to achieve our goal of winning the tournament, says Arierhi Kparobo Nathaniel.
-We are extremely delighted to be here in Gothenburg and finally get to play in this major tournament. We have felt very welcome by everyone here, says Ogbonnaya.
Beyond Limits will play their second group stage match tomorrow at 8:00 AM on Heden 4-Puma, against the Swedish team Degerfors IF.
