IF Limhamn/Bunkeflo returns to Gothia Cup
The team, competing in the G15 category, is attending Gothia Cup for the third consecutive year.
IF Limhamn/Bunkeflo is the largest football academy in Skåne, with over 1,300 active football players. The academy is continuously growing, and this year they are entering with two teams in the G15 category.
After a tough group stage for both teams, an internal match awaits them in the B playoffs.
-It’s certainly tough, but it is what it is, says the coach of the team.
The academy, which was named in 2007 when the two teams Limhamn and Bunkeflo merged, had a women's team that played in the Damallsvenskan a few years ago. Unfortunately, they were relegated from the Damallsvenskan and went bankrupt shortly thereafter.
Now, IF Limhamn/Bunkeflo G15 is the oldest generation of women in the club and aims to restart the women's team someday.
- We are taking it one step at a time, but of course, it would be fun to restart the women's team, the coach continues.
Last year, the team reached the round of 16 in the A playoffs, where they lost to a strong Hammarby team. Despite less success this year, there are other positive memories from the tournament.
-The opening ceremony was very fun, it was a good show, says Tindra Lindback, who is playing Gothia Cup for the third year in a row with the team.
The team's coach adds what he has found most enjoyable so far.
- The most fun has been the whole experience. Being here with the entire team and experiencing the tournament together, he says.
Now the team will return to the school they are staying at in Kungsbacka to prepare for the playoffs.
