Gothia Cup 2023 is officially underway and the goals are rolling in. Hammarby IF FF G17 gets the first goal of the tournament after only two minutes.

The first day of Gothia Cup is officially underway, with games being played all over Gothenburg. As the first games of the morning are kicking off, the goals are coming in. The first goal of the tournament came after only two minutes in the exciting tie between FC New England from USA and Swedish Hammarby IF FF G17.

The Stockholm side started off on the front foot and were attacking. Gabriella Hjelte, captain of the Hammarby team, managed to grab the first goal of the tournament after only two minutes. A cross into the box was deflected by the keeper, and the forward was quick on the return, putting it firmly in the back of the net.
– I’m really happy! It is always great to be here at Gothia and to have scored the first goal, says Gabriella.

Hjelte also got the second goal for the team, as they wrapped up the first game with a 2-0 win. With the shorter match time, the team has made sure that they are attacking from kick-off.
– We’ve really focused on getting going from the start to win, says Gabriella.
